Spectrum Protection Vehicle

Turns any vehicle into a mobile spectrum-monitoring lab that reads and protects the RF environment on the move

Overview

The Spectrum Protection Vehicle integrates a wideband software-defined receiver bank, a roof-mounted multi-band antenna array and an in-cabin console into a rugged 4x4 platform. A two-person crew surveys the radio-frequency environment, geolocates emitters and protects critical links while stationary or driving. It scans 20 MHz to 6 GHz, sweeping the full span in under a second, records signals of interest on board, and streams a live spectral picture to a control center over LTE or satellite backhaul — with no fixed installation.

A wideband software-defined receiver bank tunes continuously from 20 MHz to 6 GHz and sweeps the full span in under one second, giving the operator a real-time waterfall of every active emitter across the band without swapping hardware.

The roof-mounted modular array combines four to eight broadband and direction-finding antennas on quick-release mounts, so the payload reconfigures for a given band plan in minutes and stows to a low profile for transit.

Correlation direction-finding across the array geolocates emitters to within 2 degrees bearing accuracy, and combining bearings as the vehicle moves fixes a transmitter's position without a second station.

Monitoring runs identically whether the vehicle is parked or driving at up to 90 km/h, so a single platform covers a route, a perimeter or a venue instead of a grid of fixed sensors.

An in-cabin operator console with dual displays presents live spectrum, a map overlay and a signal-of-interest list, and lets one operator tag, record and classify emitters while a second drives.

Signals of interest are captured to 4 TB of on-board solid-state storage as time-stamped IQ recordings, retaining up to 200 hours of activity for later analysis and audit.
